River Ganges is a major river of about 2,510 km long that the origins Bhagirathi at Gaumukh at the Gangotri glacier (25,446 ft), located in the state of Uttarakhand Himalayas central and completes its journey through the Bay of Bengal Ganges Delta river in Sundarbans and as Padma in Bangladesh, which also drains into the Bay of Bengal.

Six rivers combine to make the mighty river Ganges. A Vishnuprayag, rivers and Alakananda Dhauliganga combine to Nandprayag, rivers and Alakananda Nandakini combine to Karnaprayag, Alakananda and Pindar rivers are combined together, Rudraprayag, Alakananda and Mandakini rivers combine together, and at Devprayag, rivers Bhagirathi and Alakananda combine together, after which the river is known as the Ganges. Of these six rivers, Bhagirathi is considered the main source.
